Mid-Levels Residence: A Pure White Base and Practical Interpretation of Light Classical Design

This residence, located in the Mid-Levels of Hong Kong, enjoys a panoramic view of Victoria Harbour. The homeowners, an expatriate couple, desired a living space that is both modern and elegantly light classical. The entire home utilizes pure white as its visual foundation; through clean decorative lines and streamlined furniture placement, the design successfully creates a sophisticated and refined atmosphere, deliberately omitting overly complicated decorations.

Flexible and Versatile Welcoming Flow

Stepping through the main entrance, the first area is the foyer, which sits adjacent to the study. The designers implemented an oversized sliding door to separate these two areas. This design grants the space tremendous flexibility: when the homeowners need to host a larger group of guests, they can simply slide the door open to seamlessly connect the foyer and the study, instantly expanding the overall entertaining space.

Living and Dining Area: Balancing Hosting Capacity and Aesthetics

Because the homeowners frequently host friends and family, the layout of the living and dining rooms heavily emphasizes spatial capacity while maintaining visual aesthetics.

  • Living Area: The space is centered around a highly practical sofa configuration to maximize hosting functionality. Display spaces are planned on both sides of the TV cabinet, with a fireplace installed below to add a warm, inviting atmosphere to the home.
  • Dining Area and Bar: The dining room features a black square dining table paired with hand-painted wallpaper on the back wall, adding visual depth and texture to the pure white space. Opposite the dining table is a bar area, where the white marble material forms a distinct contrast with the adjacent wine cabinet. The design of the wine cabinet seamlessly extends into the kitchen, visually linking the two areas and effectively amplifying the overall sense of space.

Private Quarters: Enhanced Comfort and Reconfigured Layout

Past the living room lie the highly private bedroom and bathroom areas.

  • Guest Bathroom and Bedroom: The guest bathroom utilizes marble materials combined with hand-painted wallpaper, presenting a chic and highly textured design aesthetic. The guest bedroom is based on a minimalist color palette and utilizes wallpaper to create a feature wall, keeping the space clean and refreshing.
  • Master Bedroom and Layout Reconfiguration: The master bedroom continues the decorative line elements found throughout the home and features a dedicated seating area by the window, allowing the homeowners to comfortably lean back and enjoy the outdoor scenery. In terms of spatial layout, the designers reconfigured the original bathroom space next to the master bedroom, cleverly dividing it into an independent walk-in closet and a master en-suite, significantly improving daily practicality and storage capabilities.
