Mid-Levels Residence: Pure White Light Classical Design and Flexible Entertaining Spaces

Situated in Hong Kong's prestigious Mid-Levels, this premium residence boasts sweeping views of Victoria Harbour. The design team crafted a space tailored for an expatriate couple, blending light classical elements with modern living aesthetics. Using a pure white palette as the visual foundation, the design relies on clean decorative moldings and streamlined furniture, stripping away excessive ornamentation to create a refined and elegant atmosphere.

Flexible Layout: Expansive Welcome Area with Oversized Sliding Doors

Considering the clients' frequent need to host guests, the designers implemented a highly adaptable flow in the entrance area.

  • Dynamic Partitioning: An oversized sliding door serves as a flexible partition between the entrance foyer and the adjacent study room.
  • Expanding the Space: When the homeowners host gatherings, the sliding door can be fully tucked away, seamlessly connecting the foyer and the study to instantly expand the communal entertaining area and showcase the home's grandeur.

Living and Dining Area: Balancing Hosting Capacity with Visual Elegance

Because the couple frequently entertains friends and family, maximizing the capacity of the living and dining rooms while maintaining visual appeal was a top priority.

  • Living Room: Centered around a large, practical sofa configuration to maximize seating. The TV cabinet is flanked by display shelving, with a fireplace situated below to add warmth and a cozy atmosphere to the pure white space.
  • Dining Room Highlights: A bold black square dining table is paired with exquisite hand-painted wallpaper on the back wall, introducing a striking contrast and rich texture into the design.
  • Visual Continuity: Opposite the dining table is a white marble bar. The adjacent wine cabinet extends cleverly into the kitchen, visually linking the living areas with the culinary space and effectively enhancing the overall sense of spaciousness.

Private Quarters: Layout Reconfiguration for Enhanced Comfort

Beyond the interactive public zones lie the quiet, highly private bedrooms and bathrooms.

  • Guest Facilities: The guest bathroom combines elegant marble with hand-painted wallpaper for a chic aesthetic. The guest room maintains a clean, refreshing vibe using a neutral palette and a subtle wallpapered feature wall.
  • Master Bedroom: The master suite carries over the light classical molding from the common areas and features a custom window seating area, allowing the owners to comfortably take in the Victoria Harbour views.
  • Functional Upgrade: The designers completely reconfigured the original layout by repurposing the old bathroom space next to the master suite. This clever adjustment successfully created a highly practical walk-in closet and a brand-new en-suite bathroom, significantly elevating daily storage capabilities and living quality.

"Discarding complexity to carve out the warmth of home with pure white and light classical elegance."
