Grand Central Residence: A Serene Modern Japanese Haven in Kwun Tong

Located in "Grand Central," a new residential development in the heart of the Kwun Tong city center, this 590-square-foot, two-room apartment has been meticulously transformed into a serene and peaceful living space for a couple and their child. The design perfectly balances everyday functionality with aesthetic pleasure, interpreting the understated elegance of modern Japanese design.

Wood-Dominant Palette: Cultivating a Warm Atmosphere

To create a calming retreat away from the city's hustle and bustle, the design team carefully curated the material selection.

  • Natural Elements: The entire home is adorned with natural wood as the primary spatial interface. The unique textures and warm touch of the wood establish a cozy and inviting atmosphere for this young family.
  • Peaceful Harmony: The extensive use of wood elements eliminates the coldness often found in modern urban apartments, allowing the family of three to feel completely relaxed upon returning home.

Living and Dining Area: Authentic Japanese Furniture

The public areas abandon complex decorations, shifting the focus back to the craftsmanship and clean lines of the furniture itself.

  • Authentic Touch: The living and dining areas feature meticulously selected furniture sourced directly from Japan. These pieces are not only highly practical but also inject an authentic Japanese flair into the space.
  • Minimalist Functionality: The placement of low-profile Japanese furniture helps visually elevate the ceiling height, making the 590-square-foot unit appear more open and spacious.

Bedroom Highlights: The Versatility of Wooden Lattice Screens

The bedroom continues the wooden language of the public areas and incorporates traditional Japanese architectural elements to elevate the spatial depth.

  • Feature Screen: A delicate wooden lattice screen is installed within the sleeping quarters.
  • Aesthetic and Functional: This screen serves a dual purpose: it acts as a functional room divider while its semi-transparent nature adds a striking decorative element to the room, enhancing the overall sense of quiet elegance.

"Blending Japanese aesthetics with pure wood tones to build a tranquil haven amidst the bustling city."
